Continuing with my trend of yearlong stints, I am living and working in Barranquilla, Colombia, from August 2015 to July 2016. As I stay with a host family and support the ministries of local churches, I am learning a lot about the Colombian way of life and the ways Presbyterian churches bear witness to the Gospel here, especially within a conflict context.
Under the category “Colombella: a year in Barranquilla,” you will find updates and reflections from my time in Colombia.
Two other Young Adult Volunteers (YAVs) came to Colombia with me: Alex Meyer & Emily Miller. Teams are dynamic, however, and Emily returned to the US at the end of 2015. (Pictured L-R: Alex, me, Sarah our fearless leader, Emily)
With the help of many people, I reached my individual fundraising goal for the Presbyterian Church (USA), the Christian denomination that is making this opportunity possible. If you made a gift, thank you so much.
My team and I welcome other forms of support including and not limited to: prayer, words of encouragement, interest in Colombia, jokes, visits to our blogs, visits to our sites… 🙂
Thank you for your support!
