Every human voice has a unique sound.

Beauty resides in the human voice, but it is not a static sort of beauty: it unfolds, it shrivels; it has the power to crush and to caress. The things that a voice speaks into being do not vanish into the air; they linger, whether or not the effects of their presence are noticed.

Having a competitive and ambitious spirit, I often wish to use my voice to assert and to impress, but coming from a culture that values modesty and harmony, I often choose instead to control my voice to accommodate and to please.

The title of this blog* captures my desire to make sense of the messages I receive and to validate the stories I hear, even when I wish to disagree with them. In the process I hope to decipher the value of my own voice and to hear more clearly the Voice that always speaks the truth. I do not intend to give or find answers to all my questions. I come simply to listen, to learn and to share.

“If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth,
and the truth will set you free.”
— Jesus Christ (John 8:32 ESV)
